Anglers CurioIdentity/Brand DesignFall  2022

Overview

Anglers Curio is a unique brand identity project for a new 826 store and tutoring center in Charleston, SC. This case study explores the development of a cohesive brand for a fictional paranormal bait and tackle shop that doubles as a creative writing center.

The project blends fishing, supernatural elements, and education to support 826's mission while offering an imaginative brand experience.

        Process

        Research and Discovery
Brendan Downs contributed significantly by conducting extensive research into Charleston's local culture, history, and fishing traditions.

This foundation allowed me to create an authentic feel while maintaining the brand's supernatural elements. Key insights from this phase guided our design decisions throughout the project.

        Concept Development
Building on our research, we developed a concept that blended three seemingly unrelated themes: fishing, paranormal activity, and education. This unique combination became the cornerstone of our brand identity, resulting in a memorable and distinctive brand personality.

        Visual Identity Creation

        Typography
A combination of eerie fonts for the paranormal theme and modern sans-serif for readability and educational context.

        Color Palette
A monochromatic scheme of Raven Black and Ghoul Gray, creating a mysterious and sophisticated atmosphere that aligns with the paranormal theme. Accents of Lunar Glow add an ethereal, moonlit contrast.
